RULES FOR DRAWING
To be eligible, join, renew, or transfer (online or by mail) by December 4th, 2024
In order to give us ample time to get all names and tickets issued, we are giving ourselves a week before the drawing to get everything squared away.
HOWEVER, we will allow renewals, transfers, and new members if done IN PERSON at the December 10th, 2024 meeting.
Any honorably-discharged veteran from anywhere can join any Post. We have members of our Post in places as far away as New Mexico, Washington, and even Ireland!
Legionnaires who are not assigned to a post (post at large) are free to transfer their membership to Post #40, be current, and be eligible. Please contact us to get this transfer completed.

Drawing will be at our December 10th, 2024 meeting at 6:30pm
The drawing for the rifle or shotgun will be held at our regular December meeting. We will also be catering in Christmas dinner if you'd like to stay.
ALL members of Post #40 are eligible
An outside agency or person will be brought in to verify and perform the drawing. All officers, members, and PUFL's are eligible.
Only members of Post #40 are eligible
Although we love all Legionnaires, only members of our local Post #40 are eligible.

Winner is responsible for the background check
We will draw five tickets to be sure we have a winner. The first person drawn will be the winner and contacted the next day (if not present). To keep from having to pay for any failed background checks and delays, the winner will go to GunPro Shooting Supplies in Springfield, Oregon to run the background check. Once completed, the rifle or shotgun will be ordered. There is some leeway on which model is ordered if the winner decides on another model.
"What if I don't renew or join until after the drawing?"
We really appreciate your membership, however the drawing will be on December 10th, 2024.
"Did you check with the gaming commission to be sure this is ok?"
Yes we did. Thanks for asking!
"I'm a PUFL, do I qualify?"
Yes. You Paid Up for Life therefore you don't have to do anything to be entered into this drawing.
"How does the money break down? Is this a fundraiser?"
Great question.
It used to be that our Post received $8 for every person who joined or renewed. Dues are $40. $32 of that would go to both national and state Legion offices.
However, both national and state raised their fees this year but we didn't raise our dues to you. We're still $40 to join, but we lose $2 for everyone that joins. We are ok with this for 2024-2025. Dues will have to go up to $45 next year.
You can sign up for multiple years! And we suggest you do so at this lower rate.
So, we are paying out $2 per person who renews or joins and paying $750 to GunPro for the shotgun or rifle. So no, this isn't a fund raiser but we think you're worth it!
"But the building's for sale"
Yes it is. Please watch out for updates where meetings might be between closing here (not sure when that will be) and when we move into our new building. There's a lot of work and we're not expecting to be moving in until at least December of this year.
